Creepy Caledonia was started in 2008 by Ian D. Thompson, U.E. Thompson had previously worked on a project called 'The Haunted Mill' which was the foundation for the Creepy Caledonia events. Although met with initial challenges, Creepy Caledonia became a popular local event drawing in hundreds of guests each year.
The addition of Ghost Tours in 2009 proved to be a good decision, as they quickly became popular with locals and tourists alike.
With the help of a small committee of volunteers, and with the guidance of the Caledonia Agricultural Society, Thompson organizes and coordinates a fantastic festival each year, and puts on seven ghostly walking tours each season.

Proceeds raised from Creepy Caledonia events go towards the Caledonia Old Arena Renovation Project which aims to renovate the Fairgrounds Exhibition Hall into a year-round rental facility. This endeavor promotes economic and tourist development in Caledonia's historic downtown and is of great importance to all of Haldimand County.
